Teachers, Parents Say “YES” to K+12 Plus

PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND STUDENTS EXPRESSED POSITIVE RESPONSE  to K+12 Plus after the School K+12 Task Force  launched its information drive last January 29, 2011 inside Biton High School campus, Magallanes, Sorsogon

“ The reform is commendable. It will ensure quality graduates”, the parents claimed after the discussion on the said educational reform based from the K+12 discussion paper provided to every school by the Department of Education..
The said remark was expressed by the parents after the discussion led by Mr. Ross G. Gime, Teacher-In-Charge of Biton HS with the assistance of the members of the school K+12 task force.
It shall be noted that the parents had been  negative about the said reform. “Dagdag gastos at oras lang naman iyan”, protested the parents.
But after the discussion and open forum, the parents have changed their perspective about the K+12 Plus.
The said campaign focused on the presentation of data on the weaknesses of the
present educational program as manifested in the poor quality graduates and low performance outcomes in national achievement tests.
Discussion on the vital features and implementation of K+12 Plus followed. After which, an open forum was conducted.
K+12 Plus will take its full swing this coming school year 2011-2012 where kindergarten will be institutionalized in the elementary level, a pre-requisite for enrolment in Grade I.
By SY 2012-2013, K+12 Plus shall also be effective in the secondary schools starting from First Year which shall be  called grade 7.
These pilot students shall be undergoing the 4-year Junior High School, and the 2-year Senior High School.
The latter will ensure to provide the students with the skills needed for life and for tertiary education.
